MECHATRONICS IN ITALY
Mechatronics is the synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronic control and systems thinking in the design of products and manufacturing processes.
Italian Institute for Foreign Trade has now established a special "Task Force Mechatronic" ( TFM) in Stockholm to encourage business opportunities and favour networking between innovative
Italian and Nordic companies active in this field.
After focusing on the scouting for potential partnerships in the Nordic countries, TFM identified 27 industrial automation engineering researchers from the best qualified universities of
Sweden and Finland, then arranged a week-long "project research road show" in Italy for them. The researchers included those from the Universities of Stockholm, Göteborg, Jönköping,
Halmstad, Skövde, Tampere, Helsinki.
The road show took place from 11th October to 16th October in three qualified Italian mechatronic clusters: Turin, Vicenza and Pisa.

During the meetings researchers presented their projects to 70 selected Italian mechatronic innovators and discussed possible project synergies, complementary activities and/or
eventual spin offs.
